Goldsmitty is one of the Caribbean's most respected jewellery houses, tucked into the historic waterfront arcades of Redcliffe Quay in St John's, Antigua. Every piece sold here is designed, cast, set and finished on the premises — this is a working goldsmith's studio, not a franchise counter. A MASTER GOLDSMITH SINCE 1965 The studio is owned and run by master goldsmith Hans Smit, who has lived and worked in Antigua since 1965. He began from a private workshop in English Harbour and moved the business to the Redcliffe Quay waterfront in 1981. Often described as a modern-day Fabergé, his work takes its shapes from the tropical world around him: dolphins, waves, conch shells, turtles and coral. Organic forms are sculpted first in wax, then cast in 14 karat and 18 karat gold. ANTIGUANITE — FOUND NOWHERE ELSE ON EARTH Goldsmitty holds exclusive rights to Antiguanite, a rare petrified coral millions of years old from the geological Antigua Formation. The raw fossil coral is cut, shaped and polished in-house into patterned gemstones — each one a fingerprint of ancient reef — and set into gold and silver. Goldsmitty is the only place in the world where Antiguanite jewellery is designed, crafted and sold. RARE GEMSTONES, SOURCED GLOBALLY Alongside Antiguanite, the studio works with an exceptional selection of gemstones: Imperial Topaz, Black Opal, Bicolour Tourmaline, Tanzanite and Tahitian black pearls, all set by hand. WHAT YOU CAN COMMISSION Ready-made, limited-edition and one-of-a-kind jewellery is available in the showroom. Commission-based custom design is a core part of the business — bring an idea, a stone or an heirloom and it can be drawn, carved in wax and cast for you. Professional jewellery repair, restoration and re-setting are also offered; you can polish your own piece of the rock, Antiguanite. TRADE PROFILE Goldsmitty is a premium artisanal manufacturer and retailer: importing raw precious metals and gemstones, exporting finished luxury goods through international retail to visitors, collectors and clients across the Caribbean and beyond.
